28, Mathematically Perfect. -
November 11th, 2005
My age is mathematically perfect.
What am I talking about? (1) today is my birthday and I’ve now been on this planet for 28 years and (2) 28 is a perfect number i.e. it is the sum of it’s divisors; you can divide 28 precisely by the following numbers 1,2,4,7 and 14* if you add them all up you get 28. The next perfect number after 28 is 496, so this is kind of sad too as it’s the last year my age will be a perfect number.
:(

,
I went for a bike ride this morning (replacing my traditional birthday walk). Unfortunately the trip came to an abrupt end in
Neasden about 2 hours into my planned 5 hour exploration of the Northwestern reaches when I got a puncture.
:(
*for the purpose of the definition you leave out the number itself as if you didn’t there’d be no perfect numbers.

Eesti Teatri-ja Muusikamuuseum -

I was in Tallin a couple of months ago, did I say that?
Anyway, if you go there you should go here, the music and theatre museum. It’s full of weird and wonderful old musical instruments and has a great collection of musical automata, most of which are out of tune in the most delightfully creepy way. There’s a lovely old woman who shows you around and plays all the instruments and winds all the automata, explaining stuff as you walk about and we were lucky enough to catch an early music ensemble rehearsing in the middle of the exhibition space when we visited.
I only mention this as I just found our tickets in my pocket.

Nice stop motion video.
Points:
1> I have the same inflatable dinosaur.
2> The Tetris playing out on the boiler in the kitchen.

from our office mailing list
“users of Yahoo’s TV page will be able to click on a record-to-TiVo button directly from a television program listing to remotely schedule recordings. […] in the coming months, possibly before the end of the year, Yahoo’s traffic and weather content, as well as its users’ photos will be viewable on televisions via TiVo’s broadband service and easy-to-use screen menu.”
I think I can dimly recall a time when this kind of thing might have seemed interesting to me. Now it just fills me with a mixture of boredom and despair. I think I might need to get a new job or change career or leave the country or something. I’ve always fancied Canada.

Filling in some space…
Here are some old webites I’ve been looking around today whilst stressing about not getting work done.
1 - Splitting images lookalike company. My current favourite being Ray Ballard (that’s makeup right?). Also, i don’t imagine Ian Salisbury gets much work these days.
2 - Oolong the rabbit: My selection for the cutest-thing-on-the-internets prize.
