I’ve deleted my flickr account, I never used it and it seems wasteful to have accounts that you don’t use. Plus and email from their support team which included the line
“multiple queries regarding the same issue make the Magic Donkey cry.”
and was signed off
“The Flickreenos”
had some influence on my decision.
On the plus side, the very same email inspired me to dig out the Alan Moore Abelard Snazz story that has a Californian society being destroyed (The Multi-Storey Mind Mellows Out!) and includes the immortal exclamation “jog for your life!”. It was just as funny as I remember it being.
And then Charlie said:
You should try some of the emails Virgin Wines send out. Yes, yes, Virgin Wines, I’m middle class and lazy etc. Anyway, their emails are always arranged to look like a casually forwarded email from some guy in the know. So they’ll usually look like this:

Hey Charlie!
Check out the great deal my contact has found at Chateau Barley. Just thought you might like to see it, grab it before they run out, this guy is just giving the wines away!
Cheers

Hi Ru!
Mate, I’ve just got some pucker wine in from the harvest. I figure because I know you guys so well I’ll sell you cases at £whatever. As you always say, it’s not like I’m in it for the money, am I? I must be crazy!!!!
Cheers
Unlikely Tristan
It’s not so much the implausibility that bothers me, just the effort they’ve put in to make it more plausible, which completely falls flat and comes off looking like cheap spam.
Anyway, I thought the last episode of the Trap was much better and pulled the threads together quite well. Actually a fairly simple thesis, but at least he went to the trouble of spelling it out. Not sure it needed three episodes though.
And then tom said:yeah to be honest I thought that about The Power of Nightmares too, apparently there’s a 90 minute edit of that documentary so maybe he’ll do a shorter version of this one. Much of each episode seemed to be recapping.
And then Neil said:I saw that 3rd episode, and enjoyed it, although I thought he argued himself into a corner: positive liberty ends in tyranny! Negative liberty has been corrupted! Er, well, I guess we’d better give positive liberty another go then! Or am I missing something?
