In Nintendo mythology Wario is a classic trickster figure in the mold of Loki in norse or Coyote of native American myths, not a figure of evil but a kind of cosmic con-man he challenges the structure and order of the gods, and is necessary in bringing about change. Often portrayed as being obsessed with material wealth, Wario is the associated closely with hedonism, commerce and progress.
